This episode of Journeys In Taste features cerebral Chef Antonia Klugmann who shares her passion for Friuli – an enchanting yet surprisingly overlooked culinary corner of Italy.
Antonia takes the wheel of the dynamic Lexus ES Sedan, finding solace in her surroundings and inspiration from the region's many ghost villages. She visits local suppliers, including a young female farmer and a family flour mill that's run since 1895.
Antonia is the proprietor of L’Argine A Venco, a 16-seater Michelin-starred restaurant with deep roots in northern Italy’s multicultural past, forged out of a converted 17th Century mill. She found food later in life, only pursuing cooking after switching course three years into her law degree. Antonia sees her menu, defined by its seasonality, as a reflection of her own progressive personality. "It’s important to evolve every day," she says. "To keep pushing."
The Lexus ES Hybrid takes a brave approach to design: lower, wider and sleeker. The stunning coupé-like silhouette stands out even in the glorious italian countryside. Antonia has room to breathe and the comfort to enjoy the region of Friuli which takes its name from former conqueror Julius Caesar. Its lands have been inhabited by everyone from Attila the Hun to Ernest Hemingway.
