LEXUS LBX AWARDED 5-STAR EURO NCAP RATING
The Lexus LBX has achieved a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the independent vehicle safety test organisation.
Stringent Euro NCAP ratings assess the safety not only of driver and passengers but also other road users, and crash-avoidance technologies. The maximum five-star rating recognises “Overall excellent performance in crash protection" and a car "well equipped with state-of-the-art crash avoidance technology”.
The achievement reflects the Lexus approach to safety, incorporating it into every aspect of the LBX design:
- A driver-focused cockpit ensures excellent all-round visibility with controls at easy reach. Unnecessary distractions are minimised and a clear view is assured.
- Vehicle occupants are protected through a comprehensive range of active and passive safety features. These combine the latest technology of driver support systems with the proven dependability of a light but rigid body; front, side and knee airbags; and seatbelt tensioners.
- Other road users benefit from the advanced and intelligent safety & assistance systems found on all Lexus models. We call them Lexus Safety System+. These include pre-collision systems that detect pedestrians, motorcyclists and oncoming vehicles, with emergency steering assist supporting the driver in taking safe evasive action. The LBX even checks for hazards when stationary – helping alert drivers of any cyclists approaching from the rear.
The Lexus LBX achieved its 5-star rating with standard safety equipment. Optional safety packs provide even more advanced technology including the ability to autonomously slow the vehicle to a safe stop if it detects that the driver is unable to.
The LBX achieved an 82% score for adult occupant protection, 83% for child occupants, 79% for vulnerable road users and 76% for the performance of its safety assistance systems.
