PLUG-IN HYBRID

Our new Lexus Plug-in Hybrid technology combines powerful Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid performance with outstanding Electric Vehicle (EV) capability to give you class-leading refinement, electric range and efficiency in both EV and hybrid modes.

WHAT IS A LEXUS PLUG-IN HYBRID?

With a Lexus Plug-in Hybrid there are two power sources: an ultra-smooth petrol engine and a large lithium-ion battery powering the electric motor/generator. Fully charged, a Lexus Plug-in Hybrid can drive in EV mode for more than 64 km and when the battery is depleted, switches to highly-efficient Hybrid mode.

  •

    EV MODE

The EV default setting maximizes battery use, allowing you to travel distances of more than 64 km using only electric power. Powered by an advanced 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, you can enjoy near-silent and zero emissions driving up to 135 km/h.

  •

    AUTO EV/HYBRID MODE

In Auto EV/Hybrid mode, and depending on how hard you depress the accelerator, the powerful petrol engine will spring to life and deliver rapid linear acceleration just when you need it, letting you reach 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds.

  •

    POWER CONTROL UNIT

The new PCU is tailored to the high-capacity lithium-ion battery. With the DC/DC converter under the rear seat, a boost converter has been added, realizing higher output and compact size. Mounted directly above the transaxle to reduce bonnet height, an 8-layer structure houses the circuitry required for plug-in hybrid control.

CONVENIENT CHARGING

Plug-in Hybrids charge their lithium-ion battery using a cable attached to the car from a power source. Although the new Lexus NX 450h+ will plug into a normal home socket, a Lexus Wallbox is recommended to provide faster charging.

  •

    HOME SOCKET

It is simple and convenient to plug the new Lexus NX 450h+ into a normal socket at home. The new Lexus NX 450h+ is fitted with a highly-efficient 3.3kW charging system.

  •

    LEXUS WALLBOX

We recommend a Lexus Wallbox for optimum charging. One of the most compact of its kind, the 22 kW Entry Wallbox is the perfect indoor and outdoor solution for efficient charging of EVs or your NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid that will be charged at 6.6 kW through its onboard charger. For more control, the 22 kW Connected Wallbox offers a smart charging solution featuring LAN, WiFi and optional LTE.

  •

    THE LEXUS LINK+ APP

For a seamless electrified experience, you can monitor the charge level and range of your NX 450h+ remotely, on your mobile. Lexus Link+ also locates charging stations across Europe, allowing you to check availability, charging speed and price and offers services like:

    • Remote control and scheduling of charging
    • Access to extensive European network of public charging facilities
    • Charging station availability, charging speed and price per kWh

In Auto EV/Hybrid mode, and depending on how hard you depress the accelerator, the powerful petrol engine will spring to life and deliver rapid linear acceleration just when you need it, letting you reach 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds.

PIONEERS IN ELECTRIFIED

The new Lexus NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid draws on over 15 years of leadership in electrification. Breakthroughs such as 4th generation Atkinson-cycle engines, hybrid transaxles, battery management systems and power control units have set the standard for an all-electric future.

PROTECTING THE PLANET

In order to curb greenhouse gases and to reach the goal of becoming a zero emissions company by 2050, Lexus believes effective vehicle electrification is essential. Since the launch of the RX 400h in 2005, the world’s first electrified luxury car, Lexus has taken the initiative in developing and promoting the widespread use of eco-friendly Lexus Self-Charging Hybrids, with over 2 million sold to date. As well as reducing the emissions of cars, by 2050 we plan is to achieve zero CO2 emissions and minimised water consumption at all Lexus plants.

REDUCING COSTS

By charging your car at home, or by using the extensive network of stations across Europe, you can drive without using petrol until the battery is depleted, resulting in zero emissions and significant cost savings in fuel.
